The Bubble of Indifference

The Bubble of Indifference (in Italian “La Bolla dell’Indifferenza”) us an oil painting that took part to the XIII Combat Prize Edition.

It describes the contemporary presence of two opposite situations: conflict and peace. It specifically highlights the feeling of living into a world based on appearence and comfort, yet extremely frigile at the same time; as a soap bubble it could burst suddenly. In this daily routine it is important to live every moment, infact war and brutality might be perceived with indifference, as they were happening far away from us, almost not possible.

On the contrary, outside of this comfort zone, there’s also a different reality: a world where people have to face the loss of their certainty and the destruction of their security; where the social and material contest bursts leading to solitude and neglection.

Synthetic Year

In December I was honored to take part in the a collaboration with the artistic collective Síntesis from Montilla, Spain.

I participated as Sofia Syamhope with my illustration “El paso del tiempo” (“Time passing by”) made right for the purpose.

Moreover, this illustration was particularly selected as cover masterpiece for the calendar 2023.

Indeed, the illustration represent the cycle of life, the constant change that everyone of us lives. We are people, we are like books, that write and are written by ongoing daily experiences.

In addition, the change and the lifeblood are represented by the shape of a tree, which remebers as well the logo of the Síntesis collective.

El paso del tiempo, Sofia Syamhope

Today, the artistic collaboration continues: the “Año Sintético” exhibition arrives also in Córdoba, on the 24th February, at the Hotel Averroes.

There’s also the opportunity to watch the interview recorded with the Montilla City Hall.

Quarantine feelings

A collective project

Quarantine feelings is a collective project created by the Argentinian artist Camila Fawape.

Everyone felt differently during the pandemic; some people took advantage of the lockdown to dedicate more time to their interests, while others felt trapped and strongly limited.

Therefore the purpose of the project is to offer creative inspiration to fight that feeling of being locked and transmit new ones. Indeed, a creative mind can really find a way out of the trap when it dialogues with the exterior, whereas a lockdown can obstacle it.

By taking part in the collective project Quarantine Feelings, every artist had the chance to express theirselves and creat a new masterpiece inspired by Camila’s tracks.

I also joined the project among poets and musicians. I let the inspiration coming through the notes of Marta, a track that almost sounds as an Argentinian Tango and mixes different styles.

News On T-shirt

Much more than fashion

The News On T-shirt project has been created with the desire of making artistic T-Shirts that also carry a message within.

Its mission is to share interesting topics, information, ideas, through a new alternative and customized mean, T-shirts!

Thanks to the variety of the topics, everyone can chose to wear their favorite news or theme of interest.

For instance, the topic I chose is the existing relation between pollution and health.

Colour me

Project with Loredana Filimon

I partecipated, with my lovely friend Loredana Filimon to the Oderzo photocontest 2019: O’festival. Unfortunately we had not been selected for the Fotovicoli prize, anyway we’re proud of our work donte together.

The project

The theme was “Colour me” (“Colorami”, in Italian).

We thought about the different meanings of the word:

first of all, the emotions and the experiences we live during our life change us and colour us;

moreover, our inner passions are the same that make us blooming, ramified passions (in Italian we have one word to say “Colour me” and you can divide it into two parts “colo” plus “branches”, as the ones of the trees) that make us coloured and alive; anyway, to do that, passions need to be nourished day by day.

to come at the end, everyone is by himself a colour. Everyone has something to teach to the others and every time we meet someone it could be an opportunity of personal growth. When we meet someone, we can create with him something new and special that produces a change in both the people. This is how we create a new colour.

Social artistic project

A way to spread Peace and social integration

Project development

During July, I took part to the international project paint in colours El Saucejo (Seville, Spain).

We, guys from all the world, dedicated our time creating murals for local people.

We worked with the volunteering organizations de Amicitia and Yap (Youth Action for Peace),
in collaboration with the tawn hall of the ciy.

We started working together and exchanged our ideas. Once we had made different sketches, the institutions involved chose and approved some of them.

What came up?

Have a look!

1. Kindergarten El Saucejo

Education by art

We have realized this painting paying attention to the educative aspect of the art.

The teachers asked us to create something to teach the children the basilar forms, shapes, letters, numbers. We did it with fantasy and a lot of colours.

What comes up is that the children start learning numbers, letters and so on having fun. In this way, it’s easier to learn and to remember the concepts because the associations between the concepts and the images remain longer in the mind of the children.

2. Secondary school Flavio Irnitano

Tu actitud decide tu camino

The respect begins from us

Your life is the consequence of your actions

When the guys of the Secondary school saw what we were doing at the kindergarten, they desired their own murals in the class of the Insitute. We decided to make them a surprise.

We wanted the guys to receive a message of Peace and Integration, so we paint the P-sign and a puzzle made by hands.

We also wanted them to understand that everyone has the enormous power of choice. “Tu actitud decide tu camino” means that you chose who you are by your actions, so you have the responsibility of your future.

Still curious?
